The sacred scriptures of the Bible tell us in the book of Luke: chapter ten, that one very hot day a man went out of the city of Jerusalem to the city of Jericho, for this he had to cross the desert. He began his journey which at first looked very interesting but then he had hours to make the journey on his camel, he began to worry, he was already feeling very stressed by the enormous heat and strong winds.
Who would have thought that in the desert someone would meet criminals? Suddenly some heartless men appeared, waiting for the first one to pass by, while they hid behind some rocks. When they saw the man, they were all over him, beating him savagely until they left him badly wounded. The man lying on the floor saw his camel being taken away, helplessly.
Then a man passed by, who looked with indifference at the man who was wounded and lying in the hot sand, who only found rejection instead of help, albeit not for a long time. Soon another man with a great deal of knowledge would pass by, who, when he saw him, looked like he was worried about his own things and preferred to go his own way.
The sun was too hot and the wounded man couldn’t stand it any longer but, despite the fact that a Samaritan who was passing by when he saw him under his camel and ran to attend to him with great pity, he knew that he had to attend, so he got him on the camel and the progressive on his way but on foot, at times he made sure that his companion was well until the moment they reached their destination. Soon they found a place to rest and when the Samaritan made sure the wounded man was well, he left for his destination under the promise that he would return to pay more for the expenses incurred when he returned from his trip.
God expects us all to assist our fellow men and not to be indifferent to strange needs and pain no matter who or where they are from.
